Farming in the past In previous centuries, Lesches-en-Diois, like the neighboring Diois villages, had agriculture and livestock farming as its only resources. Agricultural products were mainly intended for making bread and feeding farm animals. Each family also cultivated a kitchen garden for vegetables. The culture of cereals, wheat, barley and oats, was practiced alternately with those of alfalfa and clover; rye and spelled were reserved for the poorest lands.
