More model informationThis lower Palaeolithic handaxe was found in a back garden in the village of Littlebourne about 6km east of Canterbury. The location is set in the Lesser Stour Valley, this has enabled correlation with other Palaeolithic sites in the wider Stour fluvial system, chronostratigraphy has facilitated asigning an approximate date of manufacture to the late MIS-9 or around 300,000 to 280,000 years ago.
