Object Description Stone pillar from Aglish, Co. Kerry, in southwest Ireland, bearing an Ogham inscription, together with a Maltese cross, spear and swastikas which were almost certainly inscribed at a later date. A second and much smaller fragment of an ogham stone is still in situ in Aglish graveyard.The ogham script is the earliest form of writing known in Ireland. It is a system of linear symbols cut on either side of, or across, a stem line and is based on the Roman alphabet. The inscription on this stone is probably a commemorative inscription. .

The original object is in the collections of the National Museum of Ireland and the model was recorded with the co-operation and permission from the Museum.
