More model informationThe 267 ft iron package freighter Albany was built in 1884. It was hauling grain in 1893 when it collided in dense fog with the Philadelphia off Point Aux Barques (The Thumb), Lake Huron. These were two of the largest vessels in service at the time. The crew escaped to the Philadelphia and the Philadelphia towed the Albany a half hour toward shore before it sank then the Philadelphia sank shortly thereafter. The crew all escaped to lifeboats. Today both are in the Michigan Thumb Underwater Preserve. The model was created from 4,895 30 and 50 megapixel images shot by the team of Brian Bosveld and Andrew Goodman on one DPV dive. The model was created by Brian Bosveld.
