I’ve come across several cup marked rocks in the Vale Fuzeiros area of the Algarve recently. This one is on the top surface of a large rocky outcrop which tops a small knoll. The rock has a big hole through its vertical North face and so I have termed it Rocha do Furo - Hole Rock.
it’s a slightly more complicated carving on the top area of the rock than the simple cup marks I’ve come across so far (with the exception of the Footprint Rock). Three prominent cup marks are connected by a design of curvilinear grooves and a small zigzag groove in the case of the two closest cup marks. There are also two crossed grooves with a small cup mark at their intersection adjacent to this and on the side of the rock is a motif consisting of a cross with an oval enclosing its top three extremities. There are also possibly other minor cups and lines on the top surface.
