Relocated boulder on the southern slopes of Northfieldhead Hill, 1200 metres NW of Alnham, Northumberland.
This is one of a number of boulders in field clearance about 300 metres S of a palisaded iron-age settlement. Referenced on the Beckensall Archive (BA) as ‘Alnham Northfield’, the archive records:
“The five cups have clear pick marks and there are also single cup marks visible on the surface of the slab.”
NADRAP Team 3 added the record to ERA in 2008, providing a similar description of the motifs to the BA. However, they included additional information about the stones geology.
