This was the second submission/version of my first Maya project ever–as part of a college Game Design curriculum.
The goal was initially to learn about spheres and get familiar with the navigation and basic tools of the software (such as translate, rotate, scale; set project; terminology; etc.)
We then revised our projects as we were taught keying and simple animation as well as grouping and parenting.
I decided to scale the planets proportionately using data from Wikipedia detailing each body’s diamater as a multiple of Earth-diamaters. Distances and orbits speeds have creative liberties, of course, lest the scene be far too large to navigate. I also explored adding textures, beyond the scope of the assignment, acquried free of charge from this genius.
This version is obviously slightly different from my original Maya scene, including post-processing and lighting (which I have not learned yet) and some face issues on the text. You get the jist!
