Antonio Vivaldi Monument, 9th, Roosevelt Square. Monument to Antonio Vivaldi designed by the Italian artist Gianni Arico. The monument was initiated by the Lions Club of Vienna and the Lions Club of Venice. The statue made of Carrara marble shows a group of figures with three female musicians as well as an inclined, desk-like marble plate with two metal reliefs.
In the relief plate at the front of the stone, next to a portrait of the musician, there is the inscription “Antonio Vivaldi 1678-1741”. The relief plate on the back of the stone shows the Doge’s Palace in Venice and St. Stephen’s Cathedral in Vienna, as well as the inscription “Veneziahost Wienexcelsior Wien Opera”. The ceremonial unveiling took place on 16 June 2001, restoration in 2004.
