There is no other squadron in the IAF like the 113th (“Hornet”) Squadron, which operates the “Saraf” (Apache Longbow). 65 years ago, it was first established at Hatzor AFB as a fighter squadron called the “Second Jet”, which operated the French “Ouragan” aircraft. In 1986, due to a wave of budget cuts in the IAF, the squadron was temporarily closed until 1990, when it re-opened as an attack helicopter squadron, operating the “Peten” (Apache AH-64) - the first of its kind in the IAF.
