- Sources for restoration: “Juno Cesi” has been interpreted as an Amazon, a Muse, Persephone, and Juno. The cast of the statue can serve to supplement the cycle of Muses from Hadrian’s Villa and the corresponding set of statues from the Villa of Cassius in Tivoli (now in the Sala delle Muse in the Vatican Museums). Both groups lack a Urania. The arms of the Capitoline statue are modern restorations. We restored them inspired by the coin minted in Rome by moneyer Q. Pomponius Musa (British Museum, inv.1902,0503.3). Urania stands and points a staff at a globe. The same motif is found later on sarcophagi.
