More model informationArundel Tower is the tower on the north west end of the old town walls of Medieval Southampton. It is a good examples of the challenges we face when scanning and building 3D models.
Difficulties arose in access in and around the stairwell, the fencing on the ground and the the barriers along the walls. They caused shadows which blocked views, thus preventing data from being collected. The reflections from them also meant there was distortion in the final model.
This model was scanned by students of the University of Southampton and constructed by Neil Cooper.
