Developed and used for the sake of enrichment these machines were given a flexible body and low level artificial intelligence to browse and relocate within the area where they were deployed. They marched towards the next mineral depot and settled down for mining using laser collector. Mining was the only thing they knew for real and they worked non-stop so the colonizers called them cave slaves
