Description: Rose-like aggregate of tabular brown Baryte (Barite). Baryte is typically found as thick to thin tabularor bladed crystals, usually in clusters with the crystals growing parallel to one another, or nearly so. It receives its name from the Greek word “barys” which means “heavy”. This name is in response to barite’s high specific gravity of 4.5, which is exceptional for a nonmetallic mineral.
