Rectangular wooden box made from various timbers. The inlaid wood is arranged into an ornate marquetry star pattern in the centre surrounded by a square and circle. A brass metal lock is positioned at the front, and the box is lined with a blue velvet and green baize on base. The timbers used are identified as huon pine (Lagarostrabus franklinii), casuarina (Allocasuarina verticillata), blackwood (Acacia melanoxylon), musk (Olearia argophylla), celery top pine (Phyllocladus asplenifolius), and ebony.
