Bridge of Charles III of Spain, La Cabrera3D Model
Located in the small village of La Cabrera (Siguenza, Spain), the bridge of Charles III of Spain was built in the 18th century, under the reign of Charles III, as an inscription located in the middle of the bridge reminds us: SE HIZO ESTA OBRA REINANDO CARLOS III QUE DIOS GUARDE AÑO DE 1778 (THIS WORK WAS DONE DURING CHARLES III REIGNING, GOD SAVE THE KING, YEAR OF 1778). If we look closely at the parapets of the bridge, we can also see several engraved crosses, witness from another time when it was necessary to protect oneself from evil spirits and the devil, who lurked on the roads and bridges.
To build this bridge, an ancient Roman funerary inscription was reused as construction material, and which today can be seen on the north face of the bridge.
