Part of the project to reunite the 26 Viking-Age Brompton Sculptured Stones in this online gallery https://skfb.ly/oSypV.
Only one of the sides of the Brompton 18 hogback fragment is currently visible. The Parish church has excellent plans that will involve all its early medieval stones being very effectively displayed in their own section in the west of the nave. From the little that remains of this stone, it seems to have been very similar to Brompton 17 (https://skfb.ly/opXr9) which James Lang thought ‘by far the finest and best preserved hogback’. James Lang’s CASSS description, with good photographs of both sides is at https://archaeologydataservice.ac.uk/archives/view/wist_ahrc_2019/fullrecord.cfm?casss_mon_id=1701 The sides have the same content of interlace, but are neither of equal quality of execution, nor of equal length, so this model has not been given the same treatment as Brompton 16.
