A White Painted Ware Cypriot juglet dating to the Middle or Late Bronze Age, 1800-1450 BCE.
This handmade juglet was decorated with a crosshatch pattern, and the neck with parallel bands. The piece is well worn. The handle has broken at the neck and come loose at the joint - the join reveals the hatching by which the potter adhered it to the body. The juglet has a height of 69mm.
The juglet is on display as part of the ‘Cypriot Pottery of the Bronze and Iron Ages’ exhibition of the Hellenic Museum of Melbourne, and is on loan from the Peter Mitrakas and Mary Ann Savas collection.
