More model informationA 2015/16 update,
This 18th/19th Century brick kiln is eroding from the southern shore of Brownsea Island in Poole Harbour. The island was used in the production of Alum and Copperas from the 15th-16th Centuries and was later home to a large pottery industry. Remains of this industrial past can be found all across the island, however, coastal sites such as this are increasingly at risk from erosion and storm damage.
The site was excavated and surveyed by the National Trust in 2007 and the CITiZAN team are actively working with National Trust volunteers to record and monitor these sites before they are lost.
