More model informationFragment of a carved coral stone statue comprising the head and armless partial torso of a female figure (likely an apsara). The figure is wearing a head-dress and necklace. It appears to have been part of a larger statue which was damaged at some time in the distant past - perhaps around the time of the island’s conversion to Islam in the twelfth century. There are also some modern chips which most probably occurred during groundworks at Huda Miskiiy where the statue was discovered. It was found together with a seated Buddha figure (LAM-IKD-01-SO1) on 15 March 2018 by workers digging a trench on the south of the mosque compound during an extension / renovation project.
Dimensions: Height 21cm, width 11cm LAM-IKD-1-SO2
