Button from Betsy (VCU_3D_1465)3D ModelNoAI
This artifact was recovered from the shipwreck Betsy, located in the York River, near Yorktown, Virginia. It features the number 43, referring to the regiment of its owner. It was made between 1760-1790. The remains of Betsy were in especially good condition, providing the opportunity to gather data on eighteenth-century ship construction and furishings (Broadwater 1992:39). It was part of a fleet of vessels scuttled by the British in 1781.
