Cálato ibero (urna para las cenizas del difunto)
Esta urna cineraria apareció en una tumba de la necrópolis iberorromana de Poble Nou de Villajoyosa. Tiene figuras dentro de metopas (marcos cuadrados) separadas por series de líneas: la paloma y el pez tienen un significado relacionado con el viaje hacia el Más Allá, tanto por el cielo como por el fondo marino; y la espiral significa el renacimiento a una nueva vida. IBERIAN URN This urn was used to contain the ashes of a deceased in a tomb. It was found in the Iberian-Roman necropolis of Poble Nou (Villajoyosa, Spain). The dove and the fish mean the journey to the Hereafter, both in the sky and by the seabed; and the spiral means rebirth to a new life. 2nd half of 2nd c. or 1st c. BC.
