Box containing a boxwood écorché ( a drawn or sculpted model showing the body with the skin removed to reveal the muscle structure) and miniature ivory skeleton was presented to the University Library in 1591 by John Banister, a leading London surgeon who delivered lectures to the Barber-Surgeons’ Company and published a number of influential treatises. This object modelled as part of a collaboration between The Cambridge University Library, Dr Suzanne Paul (Keeper of Manuscripts and University Archives), Maciej M Pawlikowski (Chief Photographic Technician), and Prof. Dominic Powlesland (Affiliated Scholar, McDonald Institute for Archaeological Research)
