The Legend of the True Cross is a fresco cycle painted by Piero della Francesca in the church of San Francesco in Arezzo, Italy.

The frescoes were painted from c. 1452-1466 and depict the story of the True Cross. The legend is derived from a 13th century book, The Golden Legend, and concerns wood from a tree in the Garden of Eden eventually becoming the cross on which Jesus was crucified.

The frescoes are noteworthy for Piero della Francesca’s attention to detail, perspective, and color.
