Chichester Cathedral: the Raising of Lazarus3D ModelNoAI
ASE have worked with Chichester Cathedral to create 3D models of two carved pannels in the Cathedral.
Carved stones found behind the woodwork of the choir stalls near the south-east crossing pier in 1829 make up two scenes of compellingly high sculptural quality, Christ arriving in Bethany and the Raising of Lazarus. There is a degree of consensus in dating them to the second quarter of the 12th century and in interpreting them as English Romanesque sculptural work, and as having served as panels for a screen between the two eastern crossing piers. They are currently displayed fairly widely separated on the south wall of the South Quire Aisle. Thirteen additional fragments of Romanesque sculpture, found with the Reliefs in 1829, are now displayed on window sills in the Cathedral Library.
