The dog is the 11th of the 12 cycles in the Chinese zodiac. The Asian Zodiac, sometimes referred to as the Chinese Zodiac, is actually based on Buddhist beliefs. Buddhists suggest that the year of a person’s birth is the primary factor in determining personality traits, physical and mental attributes, and the success and happiness he/she will achieve in their lifetime. The zodiac calendar is based on 12 year cycles, each represented by a different animal. Those 12 animals are: rabbit, dragon, snake, horse, ram, monkey, rooster, dog, boar, rat, ox, and tiger.
