More model informationThe 167 ft City of Detroit was built in 1866 as a passenger and freight steamer. It foundered in a storm off Port Austin in 1873 while towing the barge Guiding Star which made it to Port Elgin before also foundering. All nineteen of the crew were lost in the accident. Today is sits in 180 ft of water and is one of the few shipwrecks in the Great Lakes which have intact hogging arches. The model was created from 3,064 thirty megapixel and fifteen megapixel images shot on three dives – two on a DPV and one shooting details handheld.
