Two male figures are depicted on this plaque, with long beards, wearing high feathered hats, wrapped in knee-length kilts and holding percussion sticks (clappers), one in each hand. The headdress and posture of the clapper players indicate that they were participating in a ritual dance, holding the clappers which were struck together with the tempo of the music. According to textual evidence, clappers were played by entertainers in the cultic rites of Inanna/Ishtar, the goddess of love and war.
