I started this model only wanting to create the lion’s head you can see in the center.

But after I finished it I wanted to see what it looked like decorating a sword.

Initially it was on the pommel of the sword, but it didn’t really look quite right there. So I embedded it into the guard instead, which turned out much better.

I also used the same method I used on my previous sword model to create the shape of the blade. Which was to boolean extract to remove “material” instead of shaping it from scratch. Which doesn’t leave you with perfect geometry, but the shapes you can get are great and saves a lot of time.
