Wooden coffin of the 17th Dynasty Pharaoh Kamose in the Egyptian Museum, Cairo. Kamose continued the war to expel the Hyksos kings started by Seqenenra Taa.

The base of the coffin was not available for scanning and is here recreated.

Seeing this and other pharaonic coffins has been eye-opening for me.

It is all too easy to take it for granted that all pharaohs had stupendous coffins covered in gold, glass inlay, etc. Yet here, and in other instances, is a rather simple-looking coffin that wouldn't immediately jump out as being made for a pharaoh. I guess you could call it the "King Tut" effect for making casual people think that all royal tombs were overflowing with gold.
