Coir Dam Widnes Wath

Coir dam blocking a gully on the salt marsh at Widnes Wath, Mersry Estuary (UK). Here the gully is soem 1-2 m wide. This dam structure is designed to slow the flow of water leaving the gully as the tide falls. Coir is derived from the fibrous husks of coconuts.
