More model informationCorinthian capital of local hard limestone found at Tiberias, Israel during the fieldwork of the New Tiberias Excavation Project led by Dr. Katia Cytryn-Silverman, Hebrew University of Jerusalem. This capital is of a type that became standard in the Southern Levant in the mid second century CE up until the late third century CE. Capitals as this one can be found at every major Roman site in the Southern Levant, including Gerasa, Baalbek, Petra and Scythopolis in relation to all types of public buildings, from bathhouses via colonnaded streets to temples.
