Crossbow Conglomerate from Shipwreck 3D Model
Three crossbows were found tangled and fused into a mass at the site of the St. Johns shipwreck (believed to be the Spanish galleon Santa Clara of 1564). A beer-stein shaped gunpowder-chamber from a small cannon, a ballast stone, and a hull spike are also in the mix. The iron and steel artifacts are covered by a concretion of calcium carbonate that formed on them while underwater. The entire piece is approximately 80cm long by 30 cm wide. A 3D model of this conglomerate as it was found on the sea floor can be seen here: https://skfb.ly/DS86
