This model shows the built walling that defends the entrance to the Castle Caves below Culzean Castle on the Ayrshire Coast. There is a lower entrance to the east (left) with two floors of windows above. This entrance would have been protected by a ‘drop hole’ protruding out from the second floor window above. The upper entrance to the west (right) is higher up the cliff face and may have been linked by an external timber stair to the castle above. for more information on Culzean castle and the caves below see chrome-extension://efaidnbmnnnibpcajpcglclefindmkaj/http://www.castlestudiesgroup.org.uk/CSG%20Journal%202020-21REV4-CALIBRI-1-Package-16-11-Culzean%20-57-69-lowres.pdf To find out about visiting Culzean castle see https://www.nts.org.uk/visit/places/culzean
