An Austrian styled scene of a house by the lake. This was my final assignment for the course “3D 1” at Digital Arts & Entertainment, Howest Belgium. Some extra beauty renders of this scene can be found on my Artstation.
The goal of the project was to make a low-poly realistic looking scene with a house, vehicle, side buildings, and various props. Since this was a 3D introductory course, the focus is on the fundamentals: basic modelling, unwrapping, and diffuse texture creation. The only other texture maps allowed were opacity maps for the foliage, and ambient occlusion baked into the base color textures. Efficiency was important too: low poly count & texture sizes, using tileable textures & decals. My entire project is just 30k vertices, and all textures combined are 25 MB.
Overall, I’m really happy with the result. I started the course with zero experience in 3D, and this project feels like a solid foundation for everything I’m about to learn next.
