The Daniel Defense MK18 (Close Quarters Battle Reciever) is a short barrelled platform designed in response to the rapid modernization of today’s conflicts– becoming more and more close quarters and more urban. The base, being a Colt M4A1 allows complete familiarity of the platform to any familiar with the AR platform of rifles.

The use of a taller, 1.93 scope mount as opposed to a cowitness in this configuration is meant for operators to have a more “heads up” mentality, a practice being adopted more and more in modern conflicts today, in order to both assist in target acquisition and in order to “present” plates in body armor, to better protect vital organs through presenting the armor as designed.
