A Diabolo Sample is a cylindrical (or flat) specimen with a reduced section in the central area, where the rupture is independent of contact conditions. Some heterogeneities (in terms of stress and strain) in the center region exist due to the curvature, but the manufacturing is less binding than the dog-bone specimen where the curvature of the latter is only on the top and bottom of the heads (straigth centre). It is a testing geometry for the characterisation of materials in mechanics.
NOTE: The 3D model was created in SOLIDWORKS (edition 2014) with a .sldprt extension. The model was converted into a .slt file. The extension (.slt) explains the aspect (top of the specimen) for the discretisation.
Dimensions: - Height: 10 mm (head size: 1 mm) ; - Internal diameter: 6.5 mm ; - Curvature radius: 11.04 mm.
