More model informationThis is a heart with a divided left atrium
By definition, this is a congenital cardiac malformation in which there is a partition that divides the left atrium into a posterior chamber that receives some or all of the pulmonary veins and an anterior chamber that communicates with the left atrial appendage and atrioventricular junction (usually the mitral valve).
In this heart the membrane divides the left atrium into an anterior and posterior chamber. The posterior chamber recieves all the pulmonary veins while the anterior chambers communicates with the atrial septum, the left atrial appendage, and the mitral valve.
The mitral valve is hypoplastic as is the left ventricle.
