This is a half model of double pipe heat exchanger model. The heat exchanger design contains one pipe inside another pipe. Hot water is assumed to be flow through internal pipe in parallel counterflow pattern from bottom right inlet end to outlet. Cold air is assumed to flow through external pipe from top inlet to outlet respectively. The walls of the inner pipe are acts like heat transfer surfaces which conducts heat from hot water to cold air. Primary advantages of double pipe heat exchanger is that, it can operate in true counterflow pattern, which is the most efficient flow pattern in a heat exchanger that provides highest overall heat transfer coefficient. This type of heat exchanger designs can be used for domestic and industrial applications.
