Positioned within the older Drumanagh promontory fort, this Martello Tower forms one of a series of sites erected as part of the anti-invasion defences during the Napoleonic Wars at the beginning of the 19th century. The tower is cylindrical in shape and built with rendered masonry. The western facing entrance is located above ground level and protected with machicolation carried on corbels.
