Effigy pipe (8857)

Platform pipe with bird effigy mounted on top; plaster cast reproduction. The bird sits on a slightly curved base. There is a large funnel-shaped bowl in the bird’s back. A small, straight hole in the base forms the stem. The bird has a well defined beak, eyes, wings, legs, feet, and tail. “Iowa” is written on the pipe in pencil.
