This is one of two barges now lying adjacent together near the southern shore of Emerald Bay State Park, Lake Tahoe. Historically, the barges were lashed to the sides of a lake steamer, and used to transport construction materials and other bulky commidities. Both barges likely sank at their moorings some time after construction of the Lake Tahoe highway in 1913.
