The Octopus Foundation field team with Swiss underwater archeologist Fabien Langenegger has uncovered a unique wreck in the lake of Neuchatel. After dendrochronology analysis, this wreck dates back to the end of the 18th century (1771). It was used to transport massive stone blocks extracted in the Jura mountains and transported on the other side of the lake for constructions that include houses, stone walls, etc. The archeological digging happened last April (2019) and lasted for two weeks, in a partnership between the State of Neuchatel and the Octopus Foundation. The discovery of the wreck was done by Fabien Langenegger at the end of 2017 from a hot air zepplin, as he was inspecting from the air the Swiss palaphitic lake sites.
