Etruscan Sphinx

This fragment of an Etruscan roof-tile is displayed in the ‘Museo Territoriale del Lago di Bolsena’ (Italy). Although a roof-tile it is just a small architectonical feature, the Sphinx is modeled in high detail.

The hole in the lower part was used to fix the tile by sticking a nail through.
