This model belongs to a sculpture that represents a woman dressed in a toga. The original sculpture, dating from the 1st century AD, is quite deteriorated, lacking the head and arms. In addition, the lower part has lost the shapes of the robe and shows the raw marble. Despite this, the figure is of great delicacy and stands out for the folds of the fabric that copy the shapes of the body, adjusting to it in the manner of the Greek statues of wet cloth (panneggio bagnato). The robed statues identified the portrayed as a Roman citizen, generally being representations of the emperor, his family or high-ranking citizens. These robed statues were linked to large public venues, such as theaters, amphitheaters or forums and created a scenography of power. The work was photogrammetrized by Artmonite during a visit to the Antonio Salinas archaeological museum in Palermo in 2021.
