紫陽花寺 高林寺 菊手水(福島県二本松市)
The chozu-ya (or temizu-ya) is a place in shrines and temples where people wash their hands and rinse their mouths to purify themselves.
In Japan, the dragon is considered to be one of the gods, and it is believed to be the one that governs water. The reason why dragons are often found at chozu-ya is because, as gods of water, the water that flows from them is considered to be holy.
Recently it is has become common to see floating flowers arranged at chozu-ya in many parts of Japan.Called hana-chozu-ya(flowers chozu-ya), many tourists come to appreciate their beauty.
Because this area is famous for its chrysanthemum,Chrysanthemums decorate the chozu-ya.
