Folding of anhydrite-rich salt layer Dej-Romania

Centimeter-scale folding of anhydrite-rich salt layer within a larger salt sample. Small scale fold accommodation faults are also observed. The salt is middle Miocene in age and comes from the Dej salt mine (Transylvanian Basin, Romania). The style of folding is indicative of radial compression.
