The fountain is located in via Margutta, residence of painters, sculptors, writers and artists from all over the world since the early 1600s. It is an original set of tools of the artist’s trade. Framed by an arch, it has an elegant pyramidal shape, composed of a superimposition of stools, compasses, easels, palettes and two masks, one with a disconsolate appearance, the other cheerful. The whole is crowned by a bucket with brushes and sculptor’s hammers of various shapes The fountain was built in 1927 based on a project by the architect Pietro Lombardi, to whom the Municipality of Rome commissioned other small fountains, all allusive, in the decorations, to the coats of arms of the districts or to the activities of the places: the Fontana delle Anfore, the Fontana dei Monti, the Fontana della Pigna, the Fontana della Botte and others . You can see 3D models of some of these fountains in this collection
