The aryballos is dated between 550 and 500 BC and was found in Sikyon, a city on the Peloponnese peninsula close to Corinth. The vessel was produced in Corinth and is shaped as a foot wearing a sandal. The straps of the sandal are attached plastically and furthermore painted. The spout is disc-shaped and resembles the shape of the “regular” globulararballoi. Due to the narrow neck and mouth, it was most probably used as a container for perfume, oil or other expensive liquids.
