Fossil Corals (NHMW-Geo 2022/0071/0001)3D Model
The coral-limestones from Adnet witness a period of extensive coral reef growth along the northern shores of the Tethys Ocean. It formed during the Triassic, some 205 million years ago.
The attractive rock has been used as building stone and for decoration since centuries. An outstanding example is the tomb of emperor Friedrich III in St. Stephens Cathedral in Vienna.
This rock is now on display in the newly designed Hall 6 of the NHM Vienna.
