More model informationThe edge of this shell was slightly visible in the sticks of a pack rat’s nest in the Owens Valley of Eastern California, 300 miles from the sea. Certainly it could have been a recent offering from the 60s, or it could be much older. This area was used by early Piaute and Shoshone people with trade routes for thousands of years. Fine translucent obsidian was 50 miles to the North of this point, the LA basin and ocean had wonderful shells 300 miles away (on foot). Fine finished tools and beads were traded as well as unfinished materials.
